2 Months
MV turned 2 months on April 26th :) Time is flying and yes once again I am late with the recap lol
But in all fairness he just had his check up this past week as well as another appointment I was waiting for ;) That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
Weight:
11 pounds 8 ounces! Little man is quickly becoming not so little! His fat rolls have fat rolls lol ok maybe not that bad but he is chub!
Length:
24.5 inches (this time I got a copy of everything lol) He was measured 3 times because of how long he is, he is now in the 95th percentile for his length!
Hair/Eyes:
We have hair again! lol MV has regrown the hair ontop of his head, it's all still a medium brown, some days looks a bit darker than others. I think it will probably lighten a bit more possible be a blonde for anew years before coming to the dark side ;) no changes with his eye colour still dark blue with a light ring. Eyelashes have gotten s lot darker and longer tho I'm jealous!
Clothing Size:
The newborn clothes are packed away :( pants are size 0-3 month, and everything else (sleepers and onesies) are either 3 months or 3-6 month sizes. MV's torso is pretty long so some stuff is too short, his midsection is still slim so we are all over with sizes lol I just grab whatever fits.
Diapers:
We are size 1 at the moment and could easily fit into the size 2's but I am hoping to stretch out the 1's just a couple more weeks because I have a few packs left lol. They are not too tight yet.
Still no real preference for diaper brand per say.... I'm starting to lean towards Huggies I think the fit is better for MVs body shape, also he may or may not get a reaction from the pampers.
Sleeping:
Unfortunately no progress here. Overall were averaging our 2-3hour stretches still but do get the occasional 4 or 5 hour stretch. I'm not really seeing any pattern with this it seems to be pretty random. Sleeping arrangements have taken a step back... MV is back in our bed. I'm not completely sure how this happened, it might have been a combo of things. We had some cold nights and he seemed chilled on his own, plus he swings his arms and legs around in his sleep and it would rock the bassinet and wake him. It's just easier this way but I really would like to break this habit soon. Bonus is we all sleep better this way, MV will wake for a feed and fall back to sleep instantly bc we just feed laying in bed.
Eating:
Still exclusively breastfeeding. I truly do feel lucky to be having such an easy time with this, I produce more than enough milk so our pumping supply is growing. The only real problem on my end is my fast letdown, MV often chokes and has to pull off, he can chug back his meals in 5 minutes flat and be good for hours. My letdown may be contributing to all his puking were not sure and I'm too worried about supply to try to do anything to slow it down.
New Developments:
Smiles are getting bigger and at times little laughing squeals are made. MV is becoming quite chatty when in a god mood, I swear his first word was Hi lol probably just a squeal but it sounds like Hi.
Legs are kicking a lot more when happy but we still have not discovered those feet, hand and arm control is improving MV can almost get that fist in his mouth on the first try. Usually he ounces himself in the face and them his fist makes his way to his mouth lol but he's getting better!
Other:
*We have stopped the reflux meds for now, I don't think they were helping at all. The puking continues, sometimes it will be hours after a feed and still come flying out. Usually projectile too.
*Because of the puking the doctor ordered an ultrasound to hopefully rule out pyloric stenosis, it's unlikely since he's gaining weight but still a small chance. So far no results, I'll probably call tomorrow.
*The Colic is ... Dare I say improving? Kinda. He is still fussy in the evenings but we are better at figuring out what he needs and can usually soothe him. There are still nights where MV will scream form no apparent reason but they are becoming less.
*We have a few routines starting, totally all led by MV, I'm not going to force him into a schedule that works for me (at least not yet)Mornings start between 5-8am and begin with a lot of grunting as MV struggles with gas and his morning poop lol followed by a feed and then happy playtime (best 3 hours of the day) and then wraps up with independent time in his swing where he falls asleep. The bulk of the day has no real pattern its basically free for all depending on MVs mood but by 8ppm we are getting ready for a bedtime bath, rocking chair time a feed and then bed.
*MV had his 2 month immunizations Monday :( he let out a horrified cry with each needle prick. He's been very clingy and fussy all week with a low grade fever. Luckily he seems to be back to normal as of yesterday.

Dogs and Babies
Meet Daisy
I wasn't supposed to be there. I wasn't "allowed" a dog. But that day, August 16th, 2004 I went to the SPCA with a friend to go look at the dogs. And there she was. She had just been dropped off not even 24 hours before. She wasn't even in her proper cageing area I opened the door to the first kennel room and she was sitting in a cage straight ahead of me and I feel in love instantly.
So Daisy has spent the last 8 years being cuddled and spoiled by hubby and I, so naturally as my pregnancy neared an end we were curious/slightly worried how she would be with a baby around. You hear of people abandoning their dogs when babies enter the picture, and dogs becoming jealous and crazy behaviours. We didn't know anyone with babies that would have felt comfortable "testing her" reaction so we just hoped for the best.
And the best is what happened.
We brought home a receiving blanket for her to smell but I don't think we needed it. The first day home she was curious, and by the end of the first week she had become an attentive second mother. If you didn't respond fast enough to him she would come to you and try to heard you towards him like you were cattle lol.
She always likes to be as close as possible, she will sit on the floor in front of where ever he is to guard him. She will try to soothe his cries if he is in reach by attempting to lick whatever inch of skin she can find. When he is colicky we tend to go room to room trying anything we can to soothe him; Daisy follows along attentively right by your feet offering moral support. And at night MV almost always ends up in our bed at some point; once in the bed she will snuggle right up alongside him. It melts my heart.
She's no longer my dog. She belongs to MV now and you know what, I'm ok with that. I look forward to watching their relationship grow, he already is very aware of her presence and will reach out to touch her soft fur. We feel very blessed with how it all worked out.

A year ago today I was struggling with my miscarriage and searching the message boards on the What to Expect App for others sharing my pain. This is how I found Maria :)
Her story helped me realize that my world was not ending, that I was not alone. Others had felt this same pain, some others felt the pain way too many times in comparison. Maria was one of those people and she was sharing her journey on her blog.
I instantly felt a connection not only because of our shared experience but there is something about her, about the way she writes that makes you feel you know her. So open and loving and warm. So genuine and real.
And now a year has gone by and so much has happened for both of us in our journey's.
If you don't know Maria you should check out her blog, but make sure you start by reading this post . Its her first post, the one with her story. Maria has recently taken on a new challenge in her journey to motherhood, one that I'm hoping will finally bring her that shining rainbow.
I started this post a few weeks ago, I wanted to make sure it was ready and that despite whatever craziness was going on I wasn't going to miss posting this tribute to my awesome friend.
I am now super excited because of her newest post which I saw this morning. Perfect timing. check it out Here if you haven't heard the news already.
And so for you my crazy cat loving friend I've dedicated this post full of cat loving. Enjoy!
